The Story

The 991 Turbo is the supercar without compromise — the generation that turned the all-wheel-drive 911 Turbo into a genuine, daily-usable hypercar-baiter. Launched in 2013 (991.1) and updated in 2016 (991.2), it paired a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six (520-540 PS, or 560-580 PS in the Turbo S) with AWD, rear-wheel steering, active aero and the lightning PDK gearbox to deliver supercar acceleration — 0-62 mph in under three seconds for the Turbo S — with absolute everyday composure. Some enthusiasts miss the involvement of the lighter GT cars, but as a do-everything, all-weather, point-to-point weapon, the 991 Turbo S was, and is, almost untouchable. It’s the consummate fast-everyday Porsche.

Questions

911 Turbo (991) FAQ

How fast is the Porsche 991.2 Turbo S?

The 991.2 Turbo S Coupe reaches 60 mph from rest in 2.8 seconds (0-100 km/h in 2.9s; the Cabriolet is 2.9s to 60 mph). Top speed is 205 mph. It produces 572 hp (580 PS) from a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre flat-six.

What changed between the 991.1 and 991.2 Turbo?

The 2016 991.2 refresh raised Turbo power from 520 to 540 PS and Turbo S power from 560 to 580 PS. It added Dynamic Boost, Sport Response mode, revised PDK software, and cosmetic updates. Rear-axle steering was already standard on 991.1 Turbo cars from launch in 2013 — the 991.2 refresh built on it rather than adding it.

What is a Porsche 991 Turbo S worth today?

Current market data (Classic.com) shows the 991.2 Turbo S coupe averaging around $193,870, with Exclusive Series CMB around $298,716. Ordinary examples span roughly $150,000-$220,000; low-mile and Exclusive Series cars trade higher.

How does the 991 Turbo differ from the 991 GT3?

The 991 Turbo uses a twin-turbocharged engine, all-wheel drive, and is tuned for brutal all-weather acceleration; the GT3 uses a high-revving naturally aspirated engine, rear-wheel drive, and is optimised for track dynamics and driver engagement. They serve fundamentally different performance philosophies within the 911 lineup.
