Ferrari SF90 Stradale
2020–present (unveiled 2019) · Ferrari SF90 Stradale — Supercar, V8 Twin-Turbo, designed by Ferrari Styling Centre (Flavio Manzoni).
The Story
The SF90 Stradale, unveiled in 2019, was a line-in-the-sand moment for Maranello: Ferrari’s first series-production plug-in hybrid and its first AWD road car of this type. Named for Scuderia Ferrari’s 90th anniversary, it pairs a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 (F154 FA, 769 hp on its own) with three electric motors — two on the front axle, one between engine and gearbox — for a combined 986 hp, the clean headline of 1,000 cv. The front motors make it all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, fed by a 7.9 kWh battery good for ~25 km of engine-off running.
What made the SF90 matter wasn’t the round number — it was Ferrari deploying hypercar-grade electrification on a ‘regular’ series car, with performance that eclipsed the LaFerrari halo above it. 0–100 km/h in 2.5 s, 0–200 in 6.7, 211 mph, and the fastest Ferrari road car around Fiorano at launch — seven tenths quicker than the LaFerrari. Autocar called it the fastest-accelerating, fastest-lapping car ever to pass through its road-test archive.
The positioning was the clever part: production-hypercar numbers slotted below the strictly-limited halo cars, sold without build-slot exclusivity. It signalled that hybridisation at Ferrari wasn’t a compromise tax but a performance multiplier — the template the 296 GTB, the SF90 XX and ultimately the F80 would follow.

Studio Motors POV
The SF90 is the car that proved electrification could make a Ferrari faster rather than merely cleaner — a technical tour de force whose only real knock is that the engineering can feel more impressive than emotional. It’s the keystone of the hybrid-Ferrari era, and once depreciation flattens, a fundamentally historic, under-appreciated buy.

What Reviewers Said About SF90 Stradale
Worth Knowing About the SF90 Stradale
3 Things You Didn’t Know
- • The 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox has NO reverse gear — reversing is handled entirely by the two front electric motors, silently, in eDrive mode (helping make the new box ~10 kg lighter than the old 7-speed).
- • The eManettino dial offers four modes: eDrive (electric-only, front axle), Hybrid (default), Performance (keeps the V8 running to charge), and Qualify (full system output).
- • The optional Assetto Fiorano pack strips ~30 kg via Multimatic shocks, extra carbon, a titanium exhaust and optional carbon wheels — the hardcore spec that anchors the most desirable used examples.
5 Fast Facts
- • Combined output 986 hp / 1,000 cv — Ferrari's first 1,000-cv series production car.
- • 0–100 km/h in 2.5 s; 0–200 in 6.7 s; top speed 340 km/h (211 mph).
- • ~25 km all-electric range from a 7.9 kWh battery (front axle only).
- • Engine: 4.0L (3,990 cc) twin-turbo V8, F154 FA — the F154 family's most powerful application at launch.
- • Designed under Flavio Manzoni; a Spider followed, and the track-honed SF90 XX Stradale (1,030 cv) arrived 2023 as the first road car in the XX Programme.
Provenance
Owners & what to look for
Famous Owners
Zlatan Ibrahimović — bought himself an SF90 Stradale (sand/gold spec) for his 40th birthday; publicly posted (autoevolution, Oct 2021). (Charles Leclerc drove a standard SF90 Stradale through Monaco for ‘Le Grand Rendez-vous,’ but his documented PURCHASE is the SF90 XX Stradale, not the standard car — noted, not conflated.)
Studio Buyer’s Brief
Decide body and spec first: Stradale (coupe) vs Spider (~70 kg heavier) vs the rarer, pricier XX. The Assetto Fiorano pack is the value-adder on a Stradale and the most sought-after used configs carry it. Critically, check hybrid-system health — software glitches, battery lockouts and loss of eDrive have been reported; confirm the battery charges and holds eDrive with no warning lights. Verify the turbocharger oil-pipe recall (2022–24 cars, fire-risk oil leak) was performed. Heavy early depreciation hit these hard (examples sold $125k–$280k under sticker), so buy a well-specced, low-fault car at the softened price.

Questions
SF90 Stradale FAQ
What is the total power output of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale?
The SF90 Stradale produces 986 CV (~ 1,000 hp) combined — 780 CV from the twin-turbo V8 plus three electric motors — routing power through Ferrari’s first series-production plug-in hybrid mid-engine drivetrain. (The FF was Ferrari’s first four-wheel-drive road car, so the SF90 is not Ferrari’s first AWD road car per se.)
What does SF90 stand for in the Ferrari SF90 Stradale?
SF stands for Scuderia Ferrari and 90 marks the 90th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari’s founding in 1929. SF90 was simultaneously the designation of Ferrari’s 2019 Formula 1 car, directly linking the road car’s hybrid technology to the F1 programme. Stradale is Italian for road-going.
How far can the Ferrari SF90 Stradale drive on electric power alone?
The SF90 Stradale’s 7.9 kWh battery enables approximately 25 km (15.5 miles) of all-electric range in eDrive mode, powered solely by the two front-axle electric motors at up to 84 mph (135 km/h), making it usable in low-emission urban zones without engaging the combustion engine.
How does the Ferrari SF90 Stradale compare to the SF90 XX Stradale?
The SF90 XX Stradale is a track-focused, 799-unit-limited evolution of the SF90 Stradale, uprated to 1,030 CV combined and set a Fiorano lap of 1:17.309. It carries a fixed rear wing (not the SF90 Stradale’s active wing) plus more aggressive aero and lightweight measures.
Can you buy a Ferrari SF90 Stradale through Studio Motors?
Yes. The SF90 Stradale is among the most technically advanced Ferraris currently available on the pre-owned market.
