Porsche 911 Sport Classic (992)
2022 · Porsche 911 Sport Classic (992) — Sports Car, Flat-6 Twin-Turbo, designed by Michael Mauer.
The Story
The 992 Sport Classic is Porsche’s Heritage Design love letter to the early-70s 911 — and a deliciously contrary piece of engineering. It takes the 992 Turbo’s 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six, turns the boost down to ~543 hp so it can run a seven-speed MANUAL, and then — uniquely — sends it all to the REAR wheels only (the 992 Turbo is AWD). Wrap that in a wide Turbo body with a double-bubble roof, a fixed ducktail (worth ~50 kg of downforce), and Sport Grey paint with period script, and you have the most powerful manual 911 of its moment. Just 1,250 were built by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur — a connoisseur’s car with retro looks and a hardcore drivetrain.

Studio Motors POV
A Turbo engine, rear-wheel-drive, three pedals and a ducktail — a gloriously contrary modern classic. A connoisseur’s grail; buy the cleanest, best-documented car and enjoy that it makes no rational sense.

What Reviewers Said About 911 Sport Classic (992)
Worth Knowing About the 911 Sport Classic (992)
3 Things You Didn’t Know
- 1) It's a Turbo engine in a Turbo body — but RWD and manual, a combination Porsche offers nowhere else; the boost was actually dialled DOWN to protect the 7-speed manual. 2) The double-bubble roof and fixed ducktail are direct homages to the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7. 3) At launch it was the most powerful manual 911 you could buy — ~543 hp through three pedals and the rear axle only.

Questions
911 Sport Classic (992) FAQ
What makes the Porsche 992 Sport Classic unique?
The 992 Sport Classic is the only 992-generation 911 combining the wide Turbo bodyshell with rear-wheel drive and a 7-speed manual gearbox. Its 3.7-litre twin-turbocharged engine is detuned to 543 hp (550 PS) to work with the manual, and it features a ducktail rear spoiler and double-bubble roof in homage to classic 911 heritage models.
How many Porsche 992 Sport Classics were built?
Porsche limited production of the 992 Sport Classic to exactly 1,250 units worldwide for the 2023 model year. All examples sold immediately, with allocations distributed through Porsche’s dealer network.
What is the Porsche 992 Sport Classic worth today?
The 992 Sport Classic has consistently sold well above its $272,300 MSRP. Individual examples have transacted at $500,000-$632,000 at private sale and auction, representing roughly double the original price. CarBuzz documents the model nearly doubling in value within three years of production.
How does the Sport Classic compare to the 992 GT3 Touring?
The Sport Classic uses the wider Turbo body, a turbocharged engine (543 hp), a 7-speed manual, and a ducktail spoiler for a heritage aesthetic. The GT3 Touring uses the narrower standard body and a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six; it is not manual-only — PDK is available (standard in some markets, with manual as no-cost).
How do I acquire a Porsche 992 Sport Classic through Studio Motors?
All 1,250 units are in private hands; contact the team to discuss current secondary-market availability.
