The Story
The Revuelto is Lamborghini admitting the future arrived — then making it rev to 9,250 rpm. It’s the brand’s first plug-in hybrid: a brand-new 6.5L V12 (the L545, the most powerful twelve they’ve ever built) bolted to three electric motors for 1,001 hp, and — heresy of heresies — the first dual-clutch gearbox ever fitted to a Lamborghini V12. The Aventador’s single-clutch brutality is gone; the theater is not.
The name, naturally, is a bull — a Barcelona fighter from the 1880s called Revuelto, which means ‘mixed up’ or ‘scrambled.’ It’s a sly joke: mixed-up propulsion, combustion and electrons, in one animal. (The original bull earned the name by leaping out of the ring into the crowd eight times. On brand.) It arrived in Lamborghini’s 60th-anniversary year on a carbon monocoque 10% lighter and 25% stiffer than the Aventador’s.
