The Story

The 997 Speedster is a rare, beautiful Porsche Exclusive collector’s piece — a low-roofed, open-top homage to the legendary 356 Speedster. Built in 2010 in a run of just 356 cars (a deliberate nod to the original), it took the wide-bodied Carrera and gave it a raked, cut-down windscreen, a unique ‘double-bubble’ tonneau cover over the folded roof, and a bespoke shade of ‘Pure Blue’ created exclusively for this model and never offered again. Under the skin sits a 408-PS GTS-tuned 3.8-litre flat-six driving the rear wheels through a 7-speed PDK gearbox. Pure indulgence and unmistakably special, it’s a collector’s dream — rare, gorgeous and quintessentially Speedster.

Questions

911 Speedster (997) FAQ

What makes the Porsche 997 Speedster unique?

The 997 Speedster (2010-2011) pays homage to the original 356 Speedster with a lowered windshield, a twin-hump tonneau cover over the folding soft top, and a Sport Classic-inspired look. Production was capped at 356 units. About 100-103 examples were earmarked for North America / the US market.

What engine and transmission does the 997 Speedster use?

The 997 Speedster uses a naturally aspirated 3.8-litre 9A1 flat-six with the Sport Classic Powerkit producing 408 hp, driving the rear wheels through a 7-speed PDK — no manual option was offered.

What is a Porsche 997 Speedster worth today?

The 997 Speedster trades in the $270,000-$380,000 range in 2025-2026 markets, averaging approximately $305,000. Its 356-unit production run, heritage styling, and PDK-only Sport Classic Powerkit powertrain drive the values.

How does the 997 Speedster compare to the 997 Sport Classic?

Both the 997 Speedster and the 997 Sport Classic are 250-356-unit limited editions sharing the Sport Classic Powerkit engine at 402 hp and a heritage design ethos. The Sport Classic is a fixed-roof coupe with a ducktail spoiler; the Speedster is an open roadster with the lowered windshield and tonneau. The Sport Classic averages around $415,000 versus approximately $305,000 for the Speedster, making it the higher-valued of the two.
