Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991)
2018–2019 · Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991) — Sports Car, Flat-6 Twin-Turbo, designed by Michael Mauer.
The Story
The 991 GT2 RS is the most extreme road 911 Porsche had ever built — a 700-PS, rear-wheel-drive, twin-turbo monster that took the GT2 ‘Widowmaker’ philosophy to its absolute limit. Revealed in 2017, it married the GT3 RS’s track-honed, lightweight chassis to a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six making 700 PS (690 hp) — and then, with the optional Weissach Package shaving even more weight (magnesium wheels, carbon everything), it went to the Nürburgring and lapped it in 6:47.3, then the fastest time ever set by a production car. RWD and 700 hp sounds terrifying, but the chassis is so good that reviewers found it not just brutally fast but sublimely capable. It’s the apex of the turbocharged 911.

What Reviewers Said About 911 GT2 RS (991)
Worth Knowing About the 911 GT2 RS (991)
3 Things You Didn’t Know
- 1) It set the production-car Nürburgring record at 6:47.3 in 2017 — and the even-more-hardcore Manthey 'MR' version later lapped the Nürburgring in 6:40.3. 2) It's rear-wheel-drive with 700 PS and no AWD safety net — the modern heir to the original 'Widowmaker' GT2s. 3) Despite the power, reviewers consistently note that the chassis brilliance distracts you from the engine — it's far more usable than the spec suggests.

Studio Buyer’s Brief
The Weissach Package is the one to want (lighter, with magnesium wheels). Verify low miles, originality and full history; the Manthey ‘MR’ track upgrade is a distinct, sought-after spec. As the most extreme 991 and a modern grail, condition and provenance set the price — and unmodified Weissach cars command the most.

Questions
911 GT2 RS (991) FAQ
How much power does the Porsche 991 GT2 RS produce?
The 991 GT2 RS produces 691 hp (700 PS) and 553 lb-ft of torque from a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six. At launch in 2018 it was the most powerful production 911 ever built, paired with a 7-speed PDK and driving the rear wheels only.
What Nurburgring record did the 991 GT2 RS set?
On 20 September 2017 (announced 27 September), the 991 GT2 RS set a production-car Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record of 6:47.3, driven by Lars Kern. It combined the twin-turbocharged Mezger-derived engine with rear-wheel drive.
What is the Porsche 991 GT2 RS worth today?
The 991 GT2 RS trades in the $419,000-$620,000 range, with Weissach Package examples at the top of the market. The Weissach version at low mileage can exceed $1 million at specialist auction. Hagerty tracks valuations by condition.
How does the GT2 RS differ from the GT3 RS?
The GT2 RS uses a twin-turbocharged engine and rear-wheel drive, delivering more outright power (700 PS / 691 hp) than the GT3 RS (520 hp). The GT3 RS is naturally aspirated and aero-focused for cornering rather than outright power. The Weissach Package on the GT2 RS is a lightweight carbon/magnesium option that reduces weight; it is not a wing-delete option.
Is the Porsche 991 GT2 RS a good collector car investment?
The 991 GT2 RS has appreciated significantly since its 2018 launch, particularly Weissach-equipped low-mileage examples. As the fastest and most powerful production 911 of the 991 era and a Nurburgring record holder, it occupies a unique position in recent Porsche history that supports sustained collector demand.
