The Story

The One-77 was Aston Martin’s first hypercar – and a statement that the marque could build something to rival anything on earth. Unveiled in 2009 and limited to 77 cars, it housed a 7.3-litre V12 making 750 bhp (then the world’s most powerful naturally-aspirated road engine) in a full carbon-fibre monocoque, for 220 mph.

Marek Reichman’s design won the Concorso d’Eleganza award at Villa d’Este; he called it ‘beautiful forever.’ It seeded the hypercar DNA that led to the Vulcan and Valkyrie – and at ~GBP 1.15m new, it was the most exclusive Aston of its age.

Questions

One-77 FAQ

What made the Aston Martin One-77 historically significant?

The One-77 (2009-2012) was Aston Martin’s first true hypercar and its first car built around a full carbon-fibre monocoque. Its 7.3-litre V12, developed by Cosworth, produced 750 bhp — which Aston Martin claimed was the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine in the world at the time of delivery. It directly seeded the Vulcan and Valkyrie hypercar lineage.

How fast is the Aston Martin One-77?

The Aston Martin One-77 achieves a top speed of 220 mph and covers 0-60 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds, powered by a 7,312 cc (7.3-litre) naturally aspirated V12 producing 750 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 553 lb-ft of torque. The engine was developed by Cosworth from Aston Martin’s standard 6.0-litre V12, with cylinder liners replaced by a nanoscopic low-friction coating to reach 7.3 litres.

What is an Aston Martin One-77 worth today?

Aston Martin One-77 examples trade for approximately $1,500,000-$2,500,000 in 2025. Goodwood reported a 2016 Bonhams sale at approximately EUR 2,000,000; the cars tab references recent auction results around EUR 1.44M and CHF 1.7-1.8M. The original price was approximately GBP 1,150,000 (~$1.4-1.8M in 2009).

How did the One-77 influence Aston Martin’s hypercar lineage?

The One-77 established the template for Aston Martin’s later halo cars. It used a carbon-fibre monocoque, reached 750 bhp from its naturally aspirated V12, and was conceived as an ultra-exclusive 77-car limited edition. The Vulcan, Valkyrie, and Valhalla all build on technologies pioneered by the One-77.

Can you acquire an Aston Martin One-77?

All 77 examples were sold by production completion in 2012 (Motor Authority reported the final example sold in April 2012). Acquisition is through the secondary market only. The One-77 is a blue-chip hypercar with strong collector demand and limited auction appearances.
