The Story
When Ferrari pulled the cover off the F80 on 17 October 2024, it did two things at once: it crowned its 80th-anniversary flagship and reignited the oldest argument in Maranello. This is the car that succeeds the LaFerrari at the top of the halo lineage — the sixth in the holy line that runs 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, LaFerrari — but the first of them to arrive without a thunderous V12. In its place sits a 3.0L twin-turbo 120° V6 (F163 CF), derived directly from the unit in the 499P that won Le Mans in 2023 and 2024. For purists who expect twelve cylinders behind a flagship’s bulkhead, that was heresy. Ferrari’s answer was unapologetic: the V6 is the racing engine, and racing is where a flagship should draw its blood.
The numbers are the rebuttal. The V6 alone makes 900 cv; an 800-volt hybrid system with three e-motors — two on the front axle, one between engine and 8-speed gearbox — pushes the combined figure to 1,200 cv (~1,184 hp), making the F80 the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever.
