The Story

The 992 GT3 is the benchmark — the everyday track weapon that proves naturally-aspirated, high-revving thrills are alive in 2021. Its 4.0-litre flat-six revs to a spine-tingling 9,000 rpm (510 PS), it offers a six-speed manual OR a lightning PDK, and it gained a double-wishbone front suspension (from the GT3 Cup car) for even sharper response. Where the GT3 RS is a single-minded circuit tool, the standard GT3 — and especially the wingless GT3 Touring — is the one you can drive every day and still take to the track: outrageously agile, serenely controlled, and, in many reviewers’ eyes, the best all-round sports car money can buy.

Studio Motors POV

The benchmark sports car of its era — a 9,000-rpm naturally-aspirated 911 you can use every day. A manual GT3 Touring is the sweet spot; buy a well-specified, documented car and drive it.

Worth Knowing About the 911 GT3 (992)

3 Things You Didn’t Know

  • 1) It revs to 9,000 rpm — a naturally-aspirated screamer in a turbo-and-EV age, with peak power at 8,400 rpm. 2) It adopted a double-wishbone front suspension lifted straight from the GT3 Cup race car — a first for a road 911. 3) The wingless GT3 Touring (a no-cost option) is the connoisseur's choice — the GT3 in a sleeper suit, which Top Gear called 'a ten out of ten car.'

5 Fast Facts

  1. • 2021 onward (992.2 refresh from 2024). • 4.0L NA flat-six, 510 PS, 9,000 rpm; manual or PDK, RWD. • Double-wishbone front suspension from the GT3 Cup car. • The wingless GT3 Touring is the sleeper choice. • A benchmark sports car; manual & Touring cars hold value strongly.

Studio Buyer’s Brief

Manual or PDK is a genuine choice (manual for purity, PDK for laps); the GT3 Touring (wingless) is the most coveted and holds value best. Verify spec, miles and history; like all GT3s, track use is common, so documentation matters. A manual Touring is the connoisseur’s pick — a buy-and-enjoy modern benchmark.
