The Story
The second-generation Ghost (2020) rebooted Rolls-Royce’s ‘entry’ saloon under a philosophy the firm calls ‘Post Opulence’ – minimalist restraint over ornament – wrapped around a wall of new engineering. It moved to the aluminium Architecture of Luxury spaceframe with the 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12, all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering.
Its party trick is refinement. The world-first Planar Suspension adds an upper-wishbone mass damper, while a road-scanning Flagbearer camera primes the air springs for bumps ahead. Rolls-Royce’s acoustic obsession went so far that early prototypes were so silent they disoriented occupants, so engineers tuned the car’s components to a single resonant frequency and added a faint, harmonised ‘whisper.’ It also debuted Rolls-Royce’s first illuminated grille.
