The Story
The Urus is the car that paid for everything else. Launched in 2018, it was Lamborghini’s first SUV since the LM002 ‘Rambo Lambo’ — but where that was a V12 desert curio, the Urus is a 641 hp twin-turbo V8 ‘Super SUV’ built to sell in numbers Sant’Agata had never dreamed of. It worked beyond anyone’s projections: more than 32,000 delivered, instantly the best-selling Lamborghini ever, and the engine behind record results — €458m operating profit in the first half of 2024 alone.
Underneath sits the VW Group’s 4.0-litre EA825 V8, shared with Audi RS and Bentley but retuned and re-clothed as a Lamborghini — and notably the brand’s first-ever turbocharged engine. Crucially, 70% of Urus buyers were new to Lamborghini and 41% were under 40: this is the car that opened the doors to an entirely new audience.
