The Story
The DB11 was the most important Aston Martin in a generation: the first car of Andy Palmer’s ‘Second Century’ plan, the first on Aston’s new bonded-aluminium architecture, and the first Aston EVER with a turbocharged engine – the ground-up 5.2-litre AE31 twin-turbo V12 (600 bhp). Launched at Geneva 2016 and styled by Marek Reichman, it reset the design language (clamshell bonnet, the curtain-of-air ‘AeroBlade’ rear).
It also opened the Mercedes-AMG technical partnership: AMG supplied the electrical architecture and, from 2017, a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 (503 bhp). The DB11 AMR (2018, 630 bhp) became the definitive V12. It replaced the DB9 and was superseded by the DB12 in 2023.
