Ferrari 812 Competizione
2021–2022 · Ferrari 812 Competizione — Grand Tourer, V12, designed by Ferrari Styling Centre (Flavio Manzoni).
The Story
When Ferrari unveiled the 812 Competizione on 5 May 2021, it wasn’t just building a harder 812 Superfast — it was firing the last great salvo of the naturally aspirated front-V12 era. The 6.5L F140-family V12 (F140 HB) was rebuilt almost from the crank out: a rebalanced crankshaft, revised valve timing, redesigned pistons and intake, 40%-lighter titanium con-rods and diamond-like carbon coatings on the piston pins and cams. The result is 830 PS (819 hp) at a dizzying 9,250 rpm, chasing a 9,500-rpm redline — the highest-revving production Ferrari road V12 ever. This engine abandons the turbo-era ‘torque whack’ for a soaring, ever-climbing crescendo.
Around it, the Ferrari Styling Centre under Flavio Manzoni sculpted serious aero. The rear screen was deleted entirely, replaced by a slatted aluminium element whose patented vortex-generator louvres manage airflow over the tail; the bonnet got functional slats; and Ferrari fitted independent four-wheel steering for the first time. Production was deliberately tiny: 999 coupes plus 599 of the targa-roofed Competizione A (Aperta), both sold out to invited clients before the public reveal.
That combination — the last hardcore naturally aspirated front V12, the highest-revving Ferrari road engine ever, vanishingly small numbers, and a model line that has since moved to the 12Cilindri — is exactly why it reads as a future blue-chip. It’s a deliberate full stop on a chapter that turbos and hybrids have closed forever.

Studio Motors POV
The 812 Competizione is the naturally aspirated front-engined V12’s final, unapologetic encore — a 9,500-rpm farewell that traded torque-rich convenience for pure, climbing emotion. In an age of turbos and hybrids, that makes it less a fast Ferrari than a closing argument for an entire way of building engines.

What Reviewers Said About 812 Competizione
Worth Knowing About the 812 Competizione
3 Things You Didn’t Know
- • The 9,500-rpm redline (peak power 9,250 rpm) is reached via titanium con-rods ~40% lighter and diamond-like-carbon (DLC) coatings on the piston pins and cams to cut friction — Ferrari's highest-revving production road engine.
- • There is no rear window: the rear screen is deleted and replaced by an aluminium structure carrying patented vortex-generator louvres that manage airflow over the tail.
- • It was the first Ferrari with independent FOUR-wheel steering — a step beyond the rear-only systems of earlier cars.
5 Fast Facts
- • 6.5L NA V12 (F140 HB): 830 PS / 819 hp @ 9,250 rpm, 692 Nm (510 lb-ft) @ 7,000 rpm.
- • 0–62 mph ~2.85 s; top speed ~211 mph.
- • Production: 999 Competizione coupes + 599 Competizione A targas — both sold out before launch.
- • Debuted 5 May 2021; designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre under Flavio Manzoni.
- • Slatted aluminium 'aero' bonnet, deleted rear screen, independent four-wheel steering.

Studio Buyer’s Brief
Core choice: the 999 Competizione coupes vs the rarer 599 Competizione A targas — the Aperta is scarcer with open-top appeal, the coupe the purer track-focused expression. Every car was allocated to invited clients and sold out before launch, so provenance and a clean Ferrari history matter; Tailor-Made/special-paint specs heavily influence value. The case rests on it being the last hardcore NA front V12 with Ferrari’s highest-revving road engine, in tiny numbers. On condition, inspect the 812 platform’s known items: 12V battery drain (hot location — look for a maintainer), rear/four-wheel-steering sensor faults (expensive), carbon-ceramic brake condition, infotainment bugs. The V12 is robust when serviced; most issues are electronic/cosmetic.

Questions
812 Competizione FAQ
What engine powers the Ferrari 812 Competizione?
The 812 Competizione uses a 6.5-litre F140 HB naturally aspirated V12 producing 830 CV (~ 819 hp) at 9,250 rpm — the highest-revving Ferrari road-going V12. It also adds independent rear-wheel steering and Ferrari’s PCV 3.0 (Passo Corto Virtuale) system for sharper turn-in.
Is the Ferrari 812 Competizione the highest-revving road car Ferrari has ever built?
Yes. Ferrari’s own launch materials state that the 812 Competizione achieves the highest RPM of any Ferrari internal combustion engine, with its 9,500 rpm redline surpassing any production Ferrari of any engine configuration in the marque’s history.
How does the Ferrari 812 Competizione differ from the 812 Superfast?
The 812 Competizione produces 830 CV vs the Superfast’s 800 CV, revs to 9,250 rpm (up from 8,900), and is capped at 999 units (coupe) plus 599 units (Competizione A). Both cars have rear-wheel steering; the Competizione adds independent RWS and PCV 3.0 for even sharper handling.
What does a Ferrari 812 Competizione sell for at auction?
Ferrari 812 Competizione coupes have sold between approximately 1.35 million and 2.04 million dollars at major auction houses. A 2024-model-year example set a coupe record at 2,040,000 dollars at RM Sotheby’s Monterey in August 2025, while a 2022 example achieved 1,611,000 dollars at Bonhams at the Quail in August 2024.
Can you source a Ferrari 812 Competizione through Studio Motors?
Yes. The 812 Competizione and Competizione A are among the most sought-after limited-production Ferraris of the modern era, with all 1,598 units pre-sold.
