Ferrari 599 GTO
2010–2012 · Ferrari 599 GTO — Grand Tourer, V12, designed by Jason Castriota.
The Story
When Ferrari resurrected the ‘GTO’ badge for the 2010 599 GTO, it was only the THIRD time in the marque’s history those three hallowed letters had been bestowed — after the legendary 1962 250 GTO and the 1984 288 GTO. That lineage alone makes the 599 GTO one of the most significant front-engined Ferraris of the modern era: a hardcore, limited-production send-off for the 599 GTB platform, derived directly from the track-only 599XX program. Where the 599XX was a circuit toy for a select clientele, the GTO took its advances in aero, chassis electronics and F1 transmission logic and made them road-legal.
The numbers backed up the badge. The 6.0L NA F140 CE V12 produced 670 PS (~661 hp) at a screaming 8,250 rpm, while ~100 kg was stripped from the standard GTB. The result: Ferrari claimed a 1:24 lap of its own Fiorano test track — a full second quicker than the mighty Enzo — making the 599 GTO the fastest road-going Ferrari the company had ever built at launch, with a top speed beyond 208 mph (335 km/h).
Production was capped at 599 units, the entire run spoken for by approved clients before the car was even publicly presented. It remains a blue-chip, naturally aspirated V12 milestone — the bridge between the old-school front-V12 GT and the F12tdf hardcore lineage that followed.

Studio Motors POV
The 599 GTO earns its three-letter inheritance: a 661-hp naturally aspirated V12 that out-lapped the Enzo and still feels seismic today. As the third and most attainable ‘GTO,’ it’s the connoisseur’s entry into Ferrari’s most sacred badge — and a stone-cold modern blue chip.

Worth Knowing About the 599 GTO
3 Things You Didn’t Know
- • It is only the THIRD car ever to wear Ferrari's 'GTO' badge — after the 1962 250 GTO and 1984 288 GTO — across a 49-year span.
- • It is essentially a road-legal distillation of the track-only 599XX experimental program, borrowing its aero, chassis and F1-gearbox advances.
- • At launch it lapped Fiorano in ~1:24 — one second quicker than the Enzo — making it the fastest road Ferrari ever at the time.
5 Fast Facts
- • 670 PS (~661 hp) @ 8,250 rpm from a 6.0L NA F140 CE V12.

Provenance
Owners & what to look for
Famous Owners
None verified. No specific documented celebrity owner of a 599 GTO could be confirmed — the 599-unit run went to approved (largely private/unnamed) Ferrari clients. (Reports of celebrities owning other 599 variants, e.g. a 599 GTB, don’t confirm GTO ownership and are EXCLUDED.)
Studio Buyer’s Brief
Provenance and allocation are everything: with only 599 built and the entire run pre-sold to approved clients, documented Ferrari Classiche / main-dealer history and a clean ownership chain are key value drivers. Stickering ~$450k–$510k new, clean examples have held that range and the model is firmly a blue-chip limited NA V12 collectible. On condition: have the F1 transmission and clutch inspected (clutch life suffers from heavy town use; change gearbox oil on schedule), check the radiator for seepage, and inspect panels and rear quarters — these are large cars that change hands often, so originality and history matter more than mileage alone.

Questions
599 GTO FAQ
What are the Ferrari 599 GTO’s key specifications?
The 599 GTO’s 6.0-litre V12 produces 670 hp at 8,250 rpm — 59 hp more than the standard 599 GTB Fiorano — and reaches 62 mph in 3.35 seconds. Production was strictly limited to 599 examples, deliberately mirroring the model designation in one of Ferrari’s most celebrated numerical coincidences.
What does GTO mean in Ferrari 599 GTO, and which Ferraris have carried the badge?
GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologato — Italian for homologated grand tourer — a designation Ferrari reserves for its most extreme road-legal performance machines. The 599 GTO was only the third Ferrari to carry the badge, following the legendary 250 GTO of 1962 and the 288 GTO of 1984.
How does the Ferrari 599 GTO differ from the standard 599 GTB Fiorano?
The 599 GTO raises output from 611 to 670 hp, saves approximately 100 kg through carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon-fibre components, and a stripped interior, and applies race-derived suspension calibration taken from the 599XX track-only programme. Ferrari described the 599 GTO as its fastest road-legal car when it launched in 2010.
What is a Ferrari 599 GTO worth at auction?
599 GTO market data shows recent 2024 sales roughly $896,000-$907,000, with high six-figure to low seven-figure realized values. The 599-unit production, pre-sold-out allocation, and GTO badge exclusivity support the premium; low-mileage or specification-heavy examples reach the top.
Can you source a Ferrari 599 GTO through Studio Motors?
The 599 GTO is the third Ferrari to carry the GTO designation, after the 250 GTO (1962) and the 288 GTO (1984). Note that the 288 GTO used a twin-turbocharged V8, not a V12 — so calling the 599 GTO ‘the third V12 GTO’ is inaccurate. It’s the third GTO overall, and it was a limited-production, sold-out car with strong collector demand.
