Ferrari F12berlinetta
2012–2017 · Ferrari F12berlinetta — Grand Tourer, V12, designed by Ferrari Styling Centre (Flavio Manzoni).
The Story
When the F12berlinetta broke cover at the 2012 Geneva show, it stopped being a continent-crusher with a grand-touring conscience and started behaving like the angriest supercar in Maranello. Shorter, lighter and meaner than the 599 GTB it replaced, it wore Flavio Manzoni’s Ferrari Styling Centre bodywork (with Pininfarina) — the ‘Aero Bridge’ channel using the bonnet itself to make downforce for the first time on a Ferrari. Under it sat the F140-family 6.3L NA V12: 740 PS (730 hp) at 8,250 rpm, the most powerful road Ferrari on sale at launch.
The romance is in what the numbers meant. This was the high-water mark of the unboosted, unhybridised front V12 — an engine that won the 2013 Performance Engine of the Year and the Above-4.0-litre class at the International Engine of the Year Awards — and it lapped Fiorano in 1:23, two full seconds quicker than the million-dollar Enzo hypercar that preceded it. A front-engined GT humiliating the previous halo car: that’s the F12’s whole thesis in one lap.
It matters because it bridges the analogue 599 and the 812 Superfast, and sits at the very end of an era — with the F12tdf and 812, the last gasp of the big naturally aspirated berlinetta before turbos and hybrids reshaped the brand.

Studio Motors POV
The F12 is the moment a front-engined Ferrari GT stopped apologising — it out-laps the Enzo and out-revs reason, yet you could still cross a continent in it. As the last truly unboosted, unhybridised big-V12 berlinetta before the 812, it’s a high-water mark, not just a chapter.

Provenance
Owners & what to look for
Famous Owners
None firmly documented for the base berlinetta. The widely-repeated ‘Gordon Ramsay owns an F12berlinetta’ claim is UNVERIFIED — sources only show him being driven in one at Maranello (2012) and reportedly ordering one; delivery is unconfirmed. (Documented F12-family owners — e.g. Jay Kay / Gordon Ramsay F12tdf — appear on the F12tdf row.)
Studio Buyer’s Brief
The base berlinetta is the sweet spot — most of the magic with more usable manners than the tdf. Insist on full Ferrari service history; the 7-speed DCT can suffer oil-seal failure (inspect the transmission). Check for corrosion around the rear-wing/arch vents and leather shrinkage on the dash top from sun. A good car: documented major services, no accident history, original spec, desirable colour + options (carbon, nose lift, racing seats).
