Ferrari 488 Pista
2018–2020 · Ferrari 488 Pista — Supercar, V8 Twin-Turbo, designed by Ferrari Styling Centre (Flavio Manzoni).
The Story
The 488 Pista, unveiled at Geneva on 6 March 2018, is the track-honed, hardcore evolution of the 488 GTB and the spiritual successor to the naturally aspirated 458 Speciale in Ferrari’s line of focused, lightweight V8 berlinettas. ‘Pista’ is Italian for ‘track,’ and it earns the name: the 3.9L twin-turbo V8 (F154 CD) makes 710 hp at 8,000 rpm and 568 lb-ft — at launch, the most powerful V8 Ferrari had ever built for a road car, with a class-leading 185 cv/litre.
What sets the Pista apart from the GTB is that its hardware and aero are lifted straight from Ferrari’s competition cars — the 488 Challenge one-make racer and the 488 GTE endurance machine. The power came via new cams, a bigger intercooler, strengthened pistons, titanium con-rods and Inconel manifolds from the Challenge engine; rotating-mass inertia dropped 17%. The body wears an F1-derived ‘S-Duct’ at the nose and GTE-optimised diffuser profiles, for 20% more downforce than the GTB.
It matters as the high-water mark of Ferrari’s first turbocharged V8 berlinetta era — a car that bridges track and road. It’s ~90 kg lighter than the GTB, hits 62 mph in 2.85 s and 211 mph, and was succeeded by the F8 Tributo and ultimately the hybrid 296 GTB — making the Pista the last, most extreme pure turbo-V8 special before electrification.

Studio Motors POV
The 488 Pista is the definitive bookend of Ferrari’s turbo-V8 berlinetta era — race-car aero and hardware in a road-legal package, and arguably the most desirable of the entire 488 line. If you want the purest, most analogue-feeling expression of Maranello’s twin-turbo V8 before hybridisation, this is the one to own.

What Reviewers Said About 488 Pista
Worth Knowing About the 488 Pista
3 Things You Didn’t Know
- • The nose hides an F1-derived 'S-Duct': air enters the bumper, passes through an internal duct, and exits a bonnet vent to make front downforce — Ferrari says it was used for the first time on a road car here.
- • It's ~90 kg (Wikipedia: 91 kg) lighter than the 488 GTB, the engine alone shedding 18 kg via Inconel manifolds, titanium con-rods and a lighter crank/flywheel.
- • Its 3.9L twin-turbo V8 won the 2018 International Engine of the Year — part of the F154 family's record four straight overall titles (2016–2019).
5 Fast Facts
- • 710 hp (720 PS) @ 8,000 rpm, 568 lb-ft — most powerful V8 in Ferrari history at launch; 185 cv/litre.
- • 0–100 km/h in 2.85 s, 0–200 km/h in 7.6 s, top speed 340 km/h (211 mph).
- • Engine code F154 CD, from the twin-turbo F154 V8 family.
- • 20% more downforce than the 488 GTB; an optional one-piece carbon wheel is ~40% lighter than the standard rim.
- • The open Pista Spider (2018, Pebble Beach) weighs 1,380 kg — the first production Ferrari convertible lighter than its coupe sibling.

Famous Owners
None verified. Several outlets claim Gordon Ramsay owns a 488 Pista, but it could not be confirmed in a reliable citable source (a Motorious feature on his collection references only a 488 GTB) — EXCLUDED rather than asserted.
Studio Buyer’s Brief
Widely regarded as a future modern-classic — the last and most extreme pure turbo-V8 hardcore Ferrari before the hybrid 296 GTB — and it has held value exceptionally well. Coupe vs the rarer, pricier Pista Spider (the convertible commands a premium); the special ‘Piloti Ferrari’ livery cars (launched at Le Mans 2018, sold only to Ferrari’s client racing drivers) carry a collector premium. Prioritise low miles and full Ferrari history; check the documented 2018 Pista airbag-ECU recall, plus common 488-family items (brake wear, sensor warnings, shift quality). Production figures are unofficial estimates — treat unit counts with caution.
