The Story
Killing the W12 could have neutered the Continental GT. Instead, the 2024 car used the moment to become the most powerful road-going Bentley ever. Out went the 6.0 twelve; in came an ‘Ultra Performance Hybrid’ — a 4.0 V8 paired with an e-motor for a combined 771 bhp.
The e-motor, buried in the gearbox, erases turbo lag and lets two-and-a-half tonnes of Bentley creep through town on silent electric power before the V8 detonates. Single round headlamps — the first on a Bentley since the 1950s, lifted from the Batur — signal that this is a new era. Top Gear’s verdict: ‘the bangiest bang of any Bentley in history.’
