The Story

When Lamborghini turned 50 in 2013, it didn’t throw a party — it built a $4 million rolling manifesto and named it after a bull so lethal it killed its matador. The Veneno is an Aventador stripped of all restraint: the same 6.5-litre L539 V12, here making 740 hp, wrapped in a body that looks less designed than weaponised. Just 13 exist — three coupés in the green, white and red of the Italian flag, the grey Geneva show car (now in Lamborghini’s own museum), and nine roadsters at $4.5M apiece.

It is, by intent, the most polarising car the company ever made. Edmunds put it atop a list of the ugliest cars in history. Lamborghini’s response was essentially a shrug: every scoop, fin and channel is there for aero, not your approval, and all 13 sold before the ink dried. This is the few-off strategy the Reventón started, taken to its logical extreme — a road-legal racing prototype priced like a villa.

You don’t drive a Veneno so much as deploy it. It is a statement about what Lamborghini is willing to do when nobody is allowed to say no.

Studio Motors POV

The Veneno is art-as-asset — you steward it, you don’t commute in it. We treat one like a blue-chip painting: provenance, condition and the right introduction matter far more than the 740 hp on the spec sheet.

Worth Knowing About the Veneno

3 Things You Didn’t Know

  • Named after a fighting bull so dangerous it gored its matador to death in 1914 — one of the deadliest bulls in bullfighting history.
  • Only 13 exist: 3 coupés (Italian-flag colours), the grey Geneva prototype, and 9 roadsters.
  • Underneath it's an Aventador — same L539 6.5L V12, retuned to 740 hp.

5 Fast Facts

  1. 13 total built: 3 coupés (~$4M) + 1 prototype + 9 roadsters ($4.5M each).
  2. 6.5L V12, 740 hp, 0–60 in ~2.9s, ~221 mph.
  3. Built for Lamborghini's 50th anniversary (2013).
  4. Edmunds named it the 'World's Ugliest Car' — every example sold anyway.
  5. Kris Singh's Veneno Roadster dealings reportedly set Lamborghini price records (~$8M+).

Famous Owners

Kris Singh (Florida investor) — documented Veneno Roadster owner, repeat buyer. Most of the other 12 buyers are undisclosed. (Documented — The Supercar Blog / zero2turbo.)

Studio Buyer’s Brief

All 13 are museum-grade; the 9 roadsters outnumber the 3 coupés. Provenance, factory tricolore spec and delivery mileage are everything — these trade privately from ~$4M to $9M+. Effectively unobtainable: when one moves, it’s an event, not a transaction.

Questions

Veneno FAQ

How many Lamborghini Venenos were made?

Lamborghini built 13 Venenos in total: three coupes in Italian tricolore colours plus the grey Geneva show prototype, and nine roadsters. All were allocated to invited buyers at the time of the model’s 2013 launch.

Why is the Lamborghini Veneno named Veneno?

Veneno was a legendary Spanish fighting bull regarded as one of the most ferocious in bullfighting history, which killed a matador in 1914. Lamborghini chose the name for its 50th-anniversary halo car to embody extreme danger and raw performance.

What engine does the Lamborghini Veneno use?

The Veneno uses the 6.5-litre L539 V12 from the Aventador, retuned to 740 hp and 509 lb-ft. Coupled to a 7-speed ISR gearbox and AWD, it covers 0 to 60 mph in approximately 2.9 seconds and tops 221 mph.

How much is a Lamborghini Veneno worth?

The three coupes were priced at approximately $4 million and the nine roadsters at $4.5 million in 2013. Given the extreme rarity of transactions, private-market values are estimated at $5 million to $8 million or more depending on provenance.

How do you source a Lamborghini Veneno?

All 13 Venenos were sold to invited buyers before the public reveal. Examples typically surface through private brokers, collector networks, and rare specialist-auction opportunities (Veneno Roadsters in particular have appeared publicly).
