The Story

The Sián is the first electrified Lamborghini — and it got there without a battery. Unveiled in 2019 (its name is Bolognese dialect for a ‘flash’ of lightning), it uses a 48-volt SUPERCAPACITOR rather than a conventional battery pack: a world-first in a production car, three times more power-dense than a same-weight battery and three times lighter for the same output. That capacitor feeds a 34 hp e-motor in the gearbox, which combines with a 785 hp 6.5-litre V12 for 807 hp total — the most powerful production Lamborghini at launch.

The cryptic suffix is a tribute: FKP 37 stands for Ferdinand Karl Piëch, born 1937 — the Volkswagen chairman who engineered Audi’s 1998 acquisition of Lamborghini and, in effect, saved the company. It’s a few-off in the truest sense: 63 coupés and 19 roadsters, every one sold before delivery, the launch cars finished in satin Verde Gea over gold-flake Oro Electrum.

The Sián is the hinge between two eras — the last great naturally-aspirated V12 statement and the first proof that Lamborghini would electrify on its own terms, paving the road to the Revuelto.

Studio Motors POV

The Sián is the historically pivotal Lamborghini — the first electrified one, named for the man who saved the marque. We value it as a milestone collectible: a numbers-matched, low-mileage launch-spec car is the one to hold.

Worth Knowing About the Sian

3 Things You Didn’t Know

  • Its hybrid system uses a SUPERCAPACITOR, not a battery — a world-first in a production car (3× lighter than an equivalent battery).
  • FKP 37 = Ferdinand Karl Piëch, born 1937 — the VW chairman behind Audi's 1998 rescue of Lamborghini.
  • 'Sián' is Bolognese dialect for 'flash' or 'lightning.'

5 Fast Facts

  1. 6.5L V12 + 34 hp supercapacitor e-motor = 807 hp (819 CV) combined.
  2. The most powerful production Lamborghini at its 2019 launch.
  3. Few-off: 63 coupés + 19 roadsters, all sold before delivery.
  4. Launch colours: Verde Gea (satin green) + Oro Electrum (gold-flake paint).
  5. The first step toward the Revuelto's plug-in hybrid V12.

Provenance

Owners & what to look for

Famous Owners

All 82 cars (63 coupé + 19 roadster) sold before delivery; individual owners are not publicly documented. (We don’t guess owners.)

Studio Buyer’s Brief

82 cars total; the Verde Gea + Oro Electrum launch spec is the iconic configuration, and the 19 roadsters are rarer than the coupés. As a sealed few-off, provenance, delivery mileage and Ad Personam documentation are everything — examples trade privately in the $3M+ range.

Questions

Sian FAQ

Why is the Lamborghini Sian named FKP 37?

FKP 37 references Ferdinand Karl Piëch, born in 1937, the Volkswagen Group chairman who oversaw Audi’s acquisition of Lamborghini in 1998. Lamborghini named the car after him as a tribute to the man widely credited with saving and reviving the marque.

How does the Lamborghini Sian hybrid system work?

The Sian pairs its 6.5-litre V12 with a 48-volt supercapacitor-based e-motor producing an additional 34 hp for a combined 807 hp. Unlike a conventional battery, the supercapacitor stores regenerative braking energy and delivers near-instantaneous boost during acceleration, at a fraction of an equivalent lithium-ion battery’s weight.

How many Lamborghini Sians were made?

Lamborghini built exactly 82 Sians: 63 FKP 37 coupes and 19 roadsters. Every example sold before the car’s public reveal, with each specified individually through the Ad Personam bespoke programme.

How much is a Lamborghini Sian worth?

Pricing varies sharply by body style and provenance. Recent public Sián coupe results include RM Sotheby’s $2.37M sale in 2025, with Classic Valuer averages in a similar range; the rarer Roadster and private asking prices can run higher.

Can you source a Lamborghini Sian?

All 82 Sians were sold to invited buyers before production. Examples typically surface through private brokers, collector networks, and rare specialist-auction opportunities — at least one Sián coupe has appeared at public auction.
