The Story
The Centenario is a birthday card you can do 217 mph in. Built in 2016 to mark 100 years since the birth of founder Ferruccio Lamborghini (1916), it was capped at 40 cars — 20 coupés and 20 roadsters — every one sold by private invitation before the public ever laid eyes on it at Geneva. The price was around €1.75M ($1.9M); the queue formed regardless.
Underneath the extravagant carbon bodywork sat an Aventador SV uprated to 759 hp — the most powerful Lamborghini road car at the time — but the Centenario’s real significance was a quiet first: rear-wheel steering, debuting here before it went into the Aventador S. The launch cars wore bare exposed-carbon skins with bright accents, a Centro Stile flex dressed up as a tribute.
It’s a few-off that did real engineering work: a sealed-edition collectible that also served as the testbed for technology the whole range would inherit.
