The Story

The V12 Speedster is pure indulgence: a roofless, windscreen-less two-seater built by Q by Aston Martin and limited to 88 cars. Inspired by the 1959 DBR1 Le Mans winner and the 2013 CC100 centenary concept, it drops the 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 (690 bhp) into a barchetta body with twin ‘speed humps’ behind the seats – a helmet is effectively required above walking pace.

A ‘DBR1 Specification’ (Racing Green with white roundels) and a Top Gun: Maverick edition (film-themed helmet pods) showed off Q’s bespoke reach. It’s rolling sculpture more than tool – and an instant collectible.

Studio Buyer’s Brief

Spec is everything on an 88-car Q creation – the DBR1 Specification (Racing Green, white roundels) and the Top Gun: Maverick cars carry premiums. Confirm delivery mileage, that the helmets/tonneau are present, and full Q documentation. A fair-weather collectible; condition trumps use.

Questions

V12 Speedster FAQ

Why does the Aston Martin V12 Speedster have no windscreen?

The V12 Speedster is a barchetta-style open two-seater built as a tribute to the 1959 DBR1 Le Mans winner. The design calls for no roof and no windscreen — each cockpit section is shielded only by a small glass aero ramp. Aston Martin supplied helmets with each car; the design reflects the open-air drama of 1950s racing rather than any practical compromise.

How many Aston Martin V12 Speedsters were made?

Exactly 88 Aston Martin V12 Speedsters were built, all commissioned through Q by Aston Martin. Special variants include the DBR1 Specification (Racing Green, white roundels, inspired by the 1959 Le Mans car) and a Top Gun: Maverick-themed edition.

What is an Aston Martin V12 Speedster worth today?

Public realised-market data for the V12 Speedster runs well below original MSRP — Classic.com shows a $420,500 benchmark/sale and TheClassicValuer shows about £317,000. The £765,000 / $950,000 figure was original UK MSRP, not current realised value. DBR1 Specification cars command a premium over standard builds.

Can you buy an Aston Martin V12 Speedster?

All 88 examples were eventually spoken for, with reporting after deliveries had begun confirming the sell-out. Acquisition is through the secondary market only.
