The Story

The Vanquish Zagato revived one of motoring’s great partnerships – Aston Martin and Milanese coachbuilder Zagato, a bond dating to the 1960 DB4 GT Zagato. Shown as a concept at Villa d’Este in 2016, it clothed the Vanquish S in hand-formed Zagato bodywork with the signature ‘double-bubble’ roof and round tail-lights.

Uniquely, it was built in FOUR body styles – Coupe, Volante, Speedster and Shooting Brake – just 325 cars in total, every one sold before delivery. It is the most elaborate modern Aston-Zagato collaboration and an instant collector piece.

Questions

Vanquish Zagato FAQ

How many Aston Martin Vanquish Zagatos were produced?

Exactly 325 Vanquish Zagatos were built across four body styles: 99 Coupes, 99 Volantes, 28 Speedsters, and 99 Shooting Brakes. The Volante and Speedster sold out before deliveries; Coupe production had already commenced when sales completed, making it Aston Martin’s most ambitious Zagato collaboration to date.

What is an Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato worth?

Vanquish Zagato Coupes and Volantes have realised approximately $400,000-$650,000 at major auction houses (RM sold examples at $637,500 and $665,000). Higher asking prices and estimates have appeared for the 28-unit Speedster and the Shooting Brake, but those figures are asks rather than confirmed realised auction prices.

What engine does the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato have?

The Vanquish Zagato uses the 5.9-litre naturally aspirated Aston Martin V12, producing approximately 592 bhp, matched to an eight-speed ZF Touchtronic III automatic. It is based on the Vanquish S platform and inherits its drivetrain.

What is the history of the Aston Martin and Zagato partnership?

Aston Martin and Milanese coachbuilder Zagato have collaborated since 1960, when the DB4 GT Zagato debuted at the London Motor Show. Key subsequent joint projects include the V8 Zagato (1986), the DB7 Zagato (2002), and the V12 Zagato (2012), with the four-body Vanquish Zagato family (2016-2018) being their most extensive collaboration.
