The Story
The Rapide was Aston’s beautiful answer to the four-door question – the first series-production four-door Aston since the wedge Lagonda, and a car Marek Reichman called ‘the most elegant four-door sports car in the world.’ Launched in 2010 with the 6.0 V12, it was initially built by Magna Steyr in Austria before production came home to Gaydon in 2012.
The Rapide S (2013) lifted power to 550-560 bhp; the run-out Rapide AMR (2018) gave it 595 bhp and a harder edge. A planned all-electric Rapide E was cancelled – so every Rapide is a V12 that drives like a proper Aston.

Is the Rapide the only four-door Aston Martin ever made?
The Rapide (2010-2020) was the first series-production four-door Aston Martin since the 1976 Lagonda — and Aston’s first modern four-door GT/saloon (the bespoke ultra-limited Lagonda Taraf also exists as a separate program). It offered a V12 grand tourer with genuine rear seating.
What is the Aston Martin Rapide AMR?
The Rapide AMR (2018) is the final and most powerful Rapide variant, producing approximately 580 bhp (603 PS / 595 hp depending on market and unit conversion) from the naturally aspirated 5.9-litre V12. It features revised aerodynamics, lightweight alloys, and a sports exhaust, and was produced in very limited numbers as a send-off for the Rapide line.
