The Story

The V12 Vantage is the enthusiast’s Aston: the oldest hot-rod trick – biggest engine, smallest car – executed to perfection. Aston squeezed the DB9’s 5.9-litre V12 (510 bhp) into the compact V8 Vantage body, initially manual-only, creating a raw, vivid driver’s car that became an instant cult hero.

The V12 Vantage S (2013) pushed it to 565 bhp; later the track-bred GT12 and GT8 (now separate pages) crowned the line. It’s a future blue-chip – and an evo 2009 Car of the Year contender.

Questions

V12 Vantage (2009) FAQ

What makes the Aston Martin V12 Vantage such an enthusiast favourite?

The V12 Vantage is a pure hot-rod: Aston Martin shoehorned the DBS’s 510 bhp 5.9-litre V12 into the lightweight Vantage body, creating what Hagerty rates as a sure-fire future collectible. It launched in 2009 with a six-speed manual as standard — no automatic was offered — making it one of the last great analogue Aston driving experiences.

How fast is the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S?

The V12 Vantage S, introduced in 2013, produces 565 bhp from the 5.9-litre naturally aspirated V12, achieving a top speed of 205 mph and 0-60 mph in approximately 3.7 seconds. The original 2009 V12 Vantage produced 510 bhp and reached 190 mph.

What is an Aston Martin V12 Vantage (2009) worth today?

Aston Martin V12 Vantage (2009) realised values span variants — early manual coupes benchmark around the low six figures, Sportshift V12 S can sit lower, and the rare 7-speed manual V12 Vantage S/Roadster examples trade well above $170,000. Manual gearbox cars command a significant premium over Sportshift automatics. Hagerty has flagged the 2009-2013 car as a future collectible.

How does the V12 Vantage compare to the Porsche 911 GT3?

The V12 Vantage and Porsche 911 GT3 are frequently compared as the definitive naturally aspirated sports cars of their era. The Vantage delivers a front-mid V12’s drama, torque, and sound; the GT3 is lighter, revs higher, and is more circuit-focused. The Vantage is the car for feel and occasion; the GT3 for lap times and precision.

Can you finance an Aston Martin V12 Vantage?

Yes. The V12 Vantage trades actively as a sought-after modern classic and is well-suited to specialist exotic-car finance.
