The Story

If the 720S was already the supercar benchmark, the 765LT is what happens when McLaren removes the filter. It’s the Longtail treatment applied to the 4.0-litre Super Series: 755 bhp, ~80 kg lighter than a 720S, a quad-exit titanium exhaust, 15%-shorter gearing, and aero and bodywork reworked for the longer tail. The result is one of the most ferociously exciting cars McLaren has ever made.

Reviewers ran out of superlatives. evo called its sense of focus “intoxicating”; Top Gear summed it up as expensive, intense and shockingly fast. It’s not subtle — it’s a track-honed missile that’s still (just) usable on the road.

McLaren built 765 Coupes and 765 Spiders, and like every great Longtail before it, demand outstripped supply. As the high-water mark of the 720S generation, the 765LT is the modern Super Series car collectors want.

Studio Motors POV

The 765LT is, for many, the best-driving modern McLaren full stop — the 720S benchmark stripped, sharpened and turned up to eleven. The Longtail to own from the 4.0 era.
