The Story

The 600LT took the everyday-brilliant 570S and aimed it squarely at the track. Following the Longtail recipe McLaren established with the 675LT, engineers stripped roughly 96 kg out of the Sports Series, stretched the body, fattened the aero — and routed the titanium exhausts up through the rear deck, so the 600LT spits flames inches from your shoulder. Power rose to 592 bhp, but the point was never headline power; it was feel.

And feel it has. Chris Harris famously concluded he’d take the 600LT over the million-dollar Senna — a verdict that tells you everything about how alive this car is at real-world speeds. It’s the cheapest, most accessible way to own a genuine McLaren “LT.”

Built in a roughly 12-month window as a Coupe and Spider, the 600LT is now the bargain Longtail: hardcore McLaren theatre without hypercar money.

Studio Motors POV

The 600LT is the connoisseur’s value Longtail: the car a McLaren test driver said he’d choose over the Senna, for a fraction of Ultimate-Series money. Maximum feel per dollar.

Worth Knowing About the 600LT

3 Things You Didn’t Know

  • 1. The titanium exhausts exit through the top of the rear deck — venting heat and flames right beside the cabin, a deliberate piece of theatre.
  • 2. It's ~96 kg lighter than the 570S it's based on — the full Longtail weight-loss programme applied to the Sports Series.
  • 3. Chris Harris rated it more rewarding than the million-dollar McLaren Senna — high praise for the "junior" LT.

Studio Buyer’s Brief

The top-exit exhaust and Clubsport touches are the draw; the Spider trades little dynamically. As a limited-window LT it’s more special than a 570S without the 675LT’s price. Buy on service history and condition; values are sensible for what’s effectively a baby track special.

Questions

600LT FAQ

How much horsepower does the McLaren 600LT produce?

The McLaren 600LT produces 592 bhp and 457 lb-ft of torque from a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8, with a top-exit titanium exhaust, front splitter, and rear wing added over the standard 570S.

What does LT mean on the McLaren 600LT?

LT stands for Longtail, inherited from the McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail that won Le Mans GT1 in 1997. On the 600LT the designation marks a weight-stripped, aero-enhanced track-focused variant of the Sports Series 570S.

How fast is the McLaren 600LT from 0 to 60 mph?

McLaren rates the 600LT at 2.8 seconds to 60 mph and 204 mph top speed, with the weight reduction over the 570S keeping the sprint time sharp despite only a modest power increase.

How much is a McLaren 600LT worth today?

Used McLaren 600LT values average around $190,200 per Classic.com as of 2025, a meaningful premium over the standard 570S reflecting the LT’s limited production window and track-focused specification.

How does the McLaren 600LT compare to the 570S?

The 600LT adds 30 bhp over the 570S for 592 bhp total, sheds significant weight through a titanium exhaust, lighter glass, and stripped interior, and gains an extended front splitter, rear wing, and roof-exit exhaust for increased downforce.

Can you lease or finance a McLaren 600LT?

Yes. Specialty lenders offer collector-car leases and loans on limited-production McLarens including the 600LT.
