Designed by McLaren (with Ricardo). McLaren’s first in-house road engine (co-developed with Ricardo; built at Shoreham-by-Sea); roots in a TWR/Nissan-VRH Indycar block but largely all-new. Variant codes: M838T→12C/650S/675LT; M838TE→570S/600LT/620R; M838TQ→P1 (petrol-electric, 903 hp combined). Also powered the 540C/570GT (variants of 570S).
