Designed by Rolls-Royce (Crewe). The longest-production-run V8 in history (1959–2020, 60+ yrs — surpassing the Chevy small-block). Variant evolution in-family: 6.2 NA ‘L410’ (1959, S2/S3 Continental); 6.75 NA (1970, T-Series & 1980 Mulsanne); 6.75 single-turbo (1982 Mulsanne Turbo → Turbo R, Continental R/T, Azure, Arnage Red Label); 6.75 twin-turbo (Arnage T, Brooklands, Azure 2nd gen, Mulsanne 2010, up to 537 hp). Merlin-inspired porting. Also powered Rolls-Royce (Silver Cloud II/III, Shadow, Spirit/Spur — see Rolls-Royce tab). FLAG: the early Arnage (1998–2000 ‘Green Label’) used a BMW M62 4.4 V8 twin-turbo, NOT the L-Series.
