Bugatti EB110
1991–1995 · Bugatti EB110 — Hypercar, V12 Quad-Turbo, designed by Marcello Gandini.
The Story
The EB110 is the Bugatti the modern marque almost forgot — and the one enthusiasts never did. In 1991, Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli revived the dormant Bugatti name, built a gleaming new factory at Campogalliano, and launched the EB110 on 15 September — what would have been Ettore Bugatti’s 110th birthday — at a party for 10,000 guests in Paris.
Technically it was years ahead: a 3.5-litre quad-turbo, 60-valve V12, a carbon-fibre monocoque (a production first), all-wheel drive, and a body penned by Marcello Gandini. The Super Sport made 603 hp and ~218 mph, making it the fastest production car of its day. But the company collapsed in 1995, and for years the EB110 was an orphan — which is exactly why values were low, and why they’ve since soared.
For Studio Motors, the EB110 is a rising blue-chip with a cult following: Gandini design, a genuine technical landmark, and the bridge between Bugatti’s pre-war glory and the Veyron era.

The Designer
Marcello Gandini
One of history’s most influential car designers; defined the wedge era at Bertone (Miura, Countach, Stratos). Penned the EB110’s body for the reborn Bugatti. Born Turin 1938, died 2024. Sources: Wikipedia; Car Design News. PARTIAL: his Lamborghini cars (in the Lamborghini file) will join at the cross-make consolidation.
Studio Motors POV
The smart-money Bugatti: a genuine technical landmark with Gandini design and a cult story, still climbing as the market catches up to what it always was. For our buyers, a Super Sport is one of the most compelling appreciating exotics out there.

Owners & what to look for
Famous Owners
Michael Schumacher bought a yellow EB110 SS (chassis 39020) in June 1994 and kept it until 2003 (it later passed through German specialists Modena Motorsport and Reichel Sportwagen). Romano Artioli — the man who revived Bugatti — remains the patron of the Campogalliano era.
Studio Buyer’s Brief
The Super Sport (32 built, lighter, 603 hp) is the one to want and carries the strongest values; GTs are more usable and slightly more attainable. Campogalliano-era cars need specialists — the quad-turbo V12 and AWD are complex — so a documented service history with an EB110 expert is essential. Originality and provenance (especially the SS, and any star-owned car) drive value in a fast-appreciating market.
