The Story
The W16 Mistral is a send-off. After nearly two decades and four turbochargers, Bugatti chose to end the W16 era not with a coupe but with an open-top roadster — 99 cars, €5 million each, all sold before reveal, and named after the fierce wind that sweeps southern France.
It is built around Bugatti’s final, highest-output W16 (1,600 PS), with the air intakes that feed the engine routed just behind the occupants’ heads, so the induction roar arrives unfiltered. In November 2024, with Le Mans winner and Bugatti pilote officiel Andy Wallace driving, a Mistral hit 453.91 km/h (282 mph) at Papenburg to become the fastest open-top production car ever.
