The Story

The Tourbillon is Bugatti starting again. The first car of the Mate Rimac era, it retires the W16 that defined the marque for two decades and replaces it with something even more improbable: a naturally-aspirated 8.3-litre V16, built by Cosworth, revving to 9,000 rpm and paired with three electric motors for 1,800 PS total. No turbos, a plug-in hybrid — and yet unmistakably a Bugatti.

Its real statement is inside. Named after the tourbillon watch complication, the instrument cluster is a genuine Swiss-made mechanical masterpiece — analogue gauges machined like a fine timepiece, under sapphire-crystal glass, with no central screen. Bugatti calls it ‘digital detox’: technology built to be timeless rather than to date.

For Studio Motors, the Tourbillon is the most significant Bugatti since the Veyron — a clean-sheet flagship, 250 cars at €3.8M, defining where the marque goes next.

Studio Motors POV

The most important Bugatti in 20 years — a clean-sheet flagship that bets on analogue craft and a bespoke V16 in a screen-saturated age. It resets the marque, and the earliest cars will be remembered as the start of a new era.

What Reviewers Said About Tourbillon

Just like any precious timepiece, a Bugatti needs to be timeless… in this digital age, we decided to pursue analogue technology – where the art of watchmaking meets digital detox.Frank Heyl (Bugatti Design Director) · Bugatti newsroom (Tourbillon reveal) · 2024
It is crazy to build a new V16 engine… and a real Swiss-made watchmaker instrument cluster. But it is what Ettore would have done, and it is what makes a Bugatti incomparable and timeless.Mate Rimac (Bugatti Rimac CEO) · Bugatti newsroom · 2024

  • 2) The V16 is naturally aspirated — no turbos — and revs to 9,000 rpm.
  • 3) 'Tourbillon' is a watchmaking complication; the whole car is themed around horology and timelessness.

5 Fast Facts

Owners & what to look for

Famous Owners

Undisclosed — production begins in 2026 and the 250-car run is reported sold out, but no individual owners are publicly documented yet.

Studio Buyer’s Brief

Too new for a secondary market — all 250 are spoken for at €3.8M. For now the questions are allocation and spec: the bespoke Sur Mesure commission, colour/trim and the watchmaker-cluster details. As the first V16 Bugatti and the Chiron’s successor, early, original cars will carry founder’s significance.
